Frequently Asked Questions

The following is a list of questions that may help you in your decision to participate in this year's North Meck 7K Race and Fun Run

Q: Why a 7k?
A: The race is actually a "Rescue 7" K, named after the squad's icon, North Meck Heavy Rescue 7. The truck is a 2007 Spartan Marion Heavy Duty Rescue stocked full of rescue equipment to help get victims out of nearly any situation. Seemed fitting that we name the race after the big beast, so the name, and thus the distance, stuck.

Q: Does every participant get a T-shirt?
A: The planners of the North Meck Rescue 7k and Fun Run will make every effort to be sure that all particpants, inlcuding 1-mile celebration walk/runners and Kid's 1K Dash participants get a T-shirt. However, registrations less than two weeks from race day may have limited T-shirt size selections. It is also possible that late registrants may not get a shirt at all. To guarantee a shirt, please register at least 2 weeks prior to race day.

Q: Can I walk the Rescue 7k Race?
A: Yes, you are able to walk the North Meck Rescue 7k Race. The 7k Course is open for an hour-and-a-half, after which time  race timing will be concluded and all remaining participants will be collected from the course and brought to the start finish area

Q: Is the 7k Race Course USATF Certified?
A: Yes. The certificate number is NC-09069-PH, and the course is certified at 7k (4.35 miles).

Q: What timing system are you using for the race?
A: Our race will be timed and certified by RMS Race Management Systems out of Marion, SC. They use the Chronotrack Timing System with D-Chip, disposable chips- more accurate, easy to use and no chips to worry abut turning in at the end of race!

Q: Can I bring my own timing chip?
A: Unfortunately, the Chronotrack system only allows the use of the D-chip, disposable timing chips. This means you don't have to worry about losing your own chip at the race.

Q: Is race day registration available?
A: Yes, Registration will be available up to an hour before start time on race day.
